Is the objection to the bookshelves that the book seem very unread, purchased in the spirit of sterility, just as a decorating strategy to imply intellect on the part of the residents? Never mind. Answered my own question.
It's the lime green chairs and couches that will haunt me all day.
I'm currently fascinated by this house: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/595-Summit-Ave-Saint-Paul-MN-55102/2028634_zpid/? The location is dreamy (it's right by the F. Scott Fitzgerald house) and I love the look of the outside but ... well, the highs are very high in this listing (the library!) and the lows are perplexing (the kitchen? what is happening in picture #12? why is there a giant pumpkin on the table in this utterly cluttered room?)
What a fun read! This reminds me of a famous quote from the deceased NYC interior designer, Billy Baldwin. "Every night when I go to sleep, I pray that the rich will wake up with taste."
I sure hope I quoted him accurately. If not, you get the gist.

This made my day! Fabulous. Beyond my imagination.
I only hope whoever buys this house embraces the Beaux Arts aesthetic instead of trying to strangle it to death.

There is something very sad this house is trying to tell us.
It’s the placement of the art on the walls for me!
Most of these questions can only be answered by Benoit Blanc.

Excellent research. Can’t wait for the next installment!
I hurt my diaphragm laughing at the yellow chairs picturing my Goldie curling up in one.
The elevator, though. Why?
You are really fucking funny and this was wonderful and awful.
