"Madonna in a Fur Coat" is next in my Audible queue, hopefully we will read it in parallel. I first have to finish the really amazing "The New Life" by Tom Crewe. It's sort of a prequel to The Great Believers but 1894 and instead of AIDS, the societal condemnation of homosexuality - a sort of living death for many. I hope someone puts you and Mr. Crew together on a panel. I also just pre-ordered I Have Some Questions For You. Even though I'll probably read it on Audible, you are one of the few people who can get me out of the house at night and when your tour gets to L.A., I shall actually come to listen and have a copy for you to sign.

Staying cryptic, oh that last line of dialogue, how well it suits the character and the society she’s lived in! Funny, tragic, perfect. I was more than once horrified at finding myself rooting for the killer of five little girls to continue to elude the authorities, because the writer did a good job of getting us caught up in her reasoning and in the increasing intensity of her flight from capture.

I LOVE THIS IDEA. One of my loose reading goals for the last few years has been to read less from white men (like, ideally, under 20% of the books I read in a year) but I like the idea better, I think. Though this is very much a "why not both" situation, I suspect.
