Already voted! I quit X a while back. I hated to do it for the same reasons you described -- I found YOU there, for example. I miss it when something big happens because I used to go there to read everyone's reactions and sometimes people are so damn funny. But, I don't miss it anymore. I gave Threads a shot and didn't love it, but maybe I'll try again.
For anyone reading the comments who hasn't taken Rebecca's class: DO IT. It's a great class, probably the best I've ever taken. It's full of really useful advice.
I was planning to vote today (Tuesday) because it's actually designated Vote Early Day but thanks for the reminder anyway. And I'm in one of the Blue Wall states which makes it even sweeter!
That has definitely happened to me a few times (short story amnesia)... I'm sure you could just as easily teach the class, but it would be amazing to see you there!! xo
I'm voting today! (Fingers, toes, and earlobes crossed.)
Rebecca, I really want to take your short story class but because of travel would have to do it later from recordings. Would I only be missing the chance to ask questions? (Am okay with that.)
I love your writing. And you are hilarious. Thanks for all you put out into the world.
You wouldn't even miss the chance for questions; we'll be encouraging people to send questions via email between classes! (Although I'll probably also take some live.) It would be great to have you there!!
Tangentially related...I looked at my Facebook memories for today, and apparently 13 years ago I had checked The Borrower out from the library! I don't remember if I'd found you on Twitter before or after that, but I fondly remember interacting with you and other authors in the good old days. I've been hesitant to use Threads because of things I've heard about their privacy practices, but I'm already on FB and IG so maybe I'm just being silly.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this, especially your words on 270 Reasons. In our present precarious political environment, a protest vote isn't just a gesture, it's potentially damning us to a terrifying future. Look no further than SCOTUS if you doubt that. And if your concern is centered in the Middle East, know for certain that the Israeli PM wants Donald Trump to win. Is that what you want?
Oh, I love you and your posts so much! And it's perfect that you met the great Margaret A. and got to talk about penises (penii?) Ballsy women unite! The future is female.

Awww thanks!! And for whatever it's worth, this one will be totally different content from the novel class (but I hope as useful)!
Oh gosh! Maybe I need to take it too!
It'll be a fun one!

I LOVED your reading of the Third and Final Continent--such a good reminder of what an amazing collection that is (I'm re-reading it!)
I think I might take your short story class! Started working on stories and I feel like writing 2 novels made me forget how to write short stories?

Vote for Hope, not Hate.
What a wonderful smorgasbord of news!
